Giving importance to one’s health through healthy eating habits is one of the major topics people have been talking about at the turn of the 21st century. While many of us run to and fro to get a cure for a dreaded disease that suddenly comes from nowhere, keeping ourselves in the pink of health still lies greatly on our eating lifestyle. The Department of Health is well aware of this fact that is why it reminded every Filipino to value his health come the month of July.

Last July, 2014, the HNHS celebrated the Nutrition Month stressing the theme “Kalamidad Paghandaan: Gutom at Malnutrisyon Agapan!”. This jogged everyone’s memory about the importance of a healthy body and mind in times of emergencies.

The celebration was participated by both personnel and students and was facilitated by Mrs. Marialyn A. Botero (STEP coordinator),Mrs. Jocelyn Joy T. Asumbrado and Mrs. Mariflor P. Enero. Various activities were held for the whole month of July. The activities were: Essay Writing Contest, Nutrijingle, Dancercise, Cooking Contest, Poster Making Contest and the Search for A1 student.

The Nutrition Month Celebration ended with a culminating program last August 3, 2014 held at the HNHS school ground. One of the highlights of the program was the presentation and awarding of the A1 students and awarding of the prizes for the winners of the Nutrition Month activities.

Even though July is considered the month to be aware of what kind of food we take in our body, this wholesome routine should be done all year round. As the said celebration ended, people who went to partake in it are expected to learn a lesson that our health has to be taken care of not only in July but on a daily basis.
